Mono Chlorobenzene

Chlorobenzene (synonym: phenyl chloride) is an aromatic organic compound with the chemical formula CHCl, consisting of a benzene ring bonded to a chlorine atom. It is a colorless, flammable liquid with a characteristic almond-like odor and is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as benzene and ether. Chlorobenzene is widely used as a solvent in the production of adhesives, paints, and degreasing formulations, and as an important intermediate in the manufacture of pesticides (such as DDT), dyes, rubber chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. It also serves as a starting material for the synthesis of nitrochlorobenzene and other substituted aromatic compounds.
