It has a characteristic odor and is readilysolubleinwater. 2-Chloroacetamide isa preservative and is a herbicide for both uplands and paddy fields. 2-Chloroacetamide is a biocide in agriculture, glues, paints and coatings. 2-Chloroacetamide inhibits very-long-chain fatty acid elongase. For research use only. Chloroacetamide has been used as anherbicide,preservative.and in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals. This is a chemical preservative found in cosmetic and pharmaceutical creams such as shampoos and bath lotions.
